This reservoir was a complete surprise to me.

I'd never been to 4S Ranch, a planned community
just west of I-15 across from Rancho Bernardo,
except to see Pond 17A at the Boys and Girls Club.
4S Ranch is not in San Diego City but
an unincorporated area created from
a 3500-acre ranch owned by
the Ralph's Supermarket family

since the 1930's.
San Diego doesn't provide them water;
it comes from the Olivenhaim Water District
which is way off in the hills shown in the background.
I haven't been to the Olivenhain Reservoir yet.
It's one of the nicest places to loiter that I've seen in months.
But not today, as the cameras are scanning me...
