Discovery Lake is in the city of San Marcos (San Diego North County).
We visited twice, and both times fishermen were at work

There's a relatively flat and easy path around the lake (and a higher, harder route too)
The lake is surrounded by new homes on the north,
and a few older residences on the south.
Soon it may be completely encircled by civilization.
