Palo Verde

Palo Verde is in Alpine, about 40 miles east of San Diego.
There are two lakes, both fed by the Sweetwater River.
Small Palo Verde is a pond at the entrance to this community.

Once past the pond, you wind through a mile or so of residential area
until you reach the large lake.

Large Palo Verde covers about 65 acres, as shown below.
Residents may engage in boating and fishing; a few homes have docks.
Water from this dam goes downstream to Loveland.

Last house on the lake has quite a compound!

A couple years after I wrote this report, we went back and made an offer on a house,
at the NW corner of the lake. We didn't get it but considered two other houses (not on the lake),
finally giving up on Alpine as being too far away from our church, friends, and city life ...
